When I want to get inspired for creating recipes, I usually search for one ingredient and go from there. The next questions is: which ingredient is to buy? Foodvibes is a provider of a monthly shipped surprise box contained 6 to 8 (yummy) organic local hard-to-find fine foods. As the box arrived, I was so excited as I was on my first day of school. My box contained of 6 different stuffs I really satisfied with.
First I cracked the Riesling bottle (can you get more German than this? You can feel the locality of the products already!) open to booze my food inspiration.. Ok, need to spare some of the wine for the risotto for dinner later!
My other favourite, besides the inspiration-source bottle of Riesling, is the mustard which is based on a 125 year-old recipe. The colour of the mustard is so playful, it directly inspires me to make a dip out of it! Maybe as a side dish for sweet potato fries? The fries could be made in the oven with some native olive oil, garlic, rosemary.. Well, the box surprised me with a bottle of extra virgin olive oil from Greece! Mindreader or what?
In the sweet and snacks department, my tummy will be filled with a blueberry jam from Veronique Winzigmann which is made of 75% fruits. This level of fruits percentage labels the quality and goodness of jams. Other jams manufacturer should take this for seriously: More fruits and less sugar please!
For the savoury options there is a pumpkin seeds snack bar from Innobar. This snack is vegan, delish and fulfilling. Better than some muesli bar I know!
I actually sent a picture of the box to a organic regional product fanatic friend and she was “lucky you, the lemonade is to die for!” So I tried the lemonade as a dessert for the riesling. It was to die for alright!
This box is perfect for organic or local products supporters and fine foods lovers! Those who sometimes go to a organic market but do not know what to buy can get their feet wet as well! It is also kind of fun when you know that that one time in a month your bell rings with some nice (eatable, drinkable!) surprise behind the door, right?
Thanks to Foodvibes for sending me the surprise box full of yummy stuffs. Two of my favourite things at once: surprises and foods!
